Brain Health Bootcamp is excited to offer a comprehensive and rewarding student internship opportunity for motivated high school students in grades 11-12.

This internship program (summer dates: July to Sept 2023; fall/winter dates: Oct - Dec 2023) provides a unique chance to contribute to the field of mental health and gain valuable skills and experiences. The internship will be fully remote, requiring access to the internet and a laptop.

Preferred Skills

We are seeking candidates with a passion for mental health and an interest in making a positive impact. While no prior experience is required, preferred skills include mental health research, design, communication, writing, and social media proficiency.

Internship Expectations

As an intern, you will be expected to commit approximately 4 hours per week to the program (or up to 10 every 2 weeks). This will include participating in one mandatory Zoom meetings each week, where you will engage in collaborative discussions with other interns and present on the status of your projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for completing an independent project that aligns with the goals of Brain Health Bootcamp (BHB).

  1. Volunteer Hours (for those applying to volunteer program): Upon successful completion of the internship, you will receive up to 100 volunteer hours, recognizing your dedication and contribution to mental health initiatives.
  2. Training and Certification: The internship will commence with mental health literacy training and specific training in suicide prevention, utilizing the Columbia Protocol. This certification can be a valuable addition to your resume or college applications.
  3. Gain Valuable Skills: You will have the opportunity to work closely with Brain Health Bootcamp, a nonprofit organization serving communities across the United States. This involvement will provide insight into the operations and impact of a mental health-focused nonprofit.
  4. Entrepreneurial Projects: As part of the internship, you will complete a project focused on understanding your community's mental health needs, raising awareness, and ultimately leading a project that will bring BHB’s resources into your community. This will involve conducting interviews with individuals in your community, identifying gaps in mental health literacy, and ultimately raising money & awareness to bring mental health & suicide prevention resources to address those needs. You will also receive leadership training and mentorship throughout this process.
  5. Demo Day: At the end of the internship opportunity, we will be inviting our staff and advisors (clinicians and professors from Yale, Mt Sinai, Columbia, UPenn, etc.) to watch a presentation of your independent project.
  6. Ambassador and Student Advisor Opportunities: Exceptional interns with successful independent projects will have the opportunity to become year-round BHB Ambassadors and Student Advisors and continue furthering their independent project. These roles provide ongoing engagement, leadership development, and the chance to shape and drive BHB initiatives in your community.
